Wellllll...are we going to make it in time for the retreat?

Hello AFFs!!  Well, are we going to make it in time for the retreat?  Here is the deal, I say that we give it the ole' college try but in keeping with our "stress-free" attitude in our great creative association, if it is just not going to happen and we are worrying toooo much, just bring what you have finished and we will still have a grand reveal with whatever we have.  Then you can go home, finish up whatever needs finishing, post pix here and mail it off to mama (owner of the book).   I know these are busy times for all of us.  Just give it a try.

Then, when we are all finished we can decide if there is to be round two...Jody had made the suggestion that we do altered books.  After the retreat we can revisit and discuss.  I, for one, love our creative group and the freedom it has allowed and would love it if we just continue on in the same manner until our hands and eyes give out.  Just think of the creative times we have ahead! 

Also, if along the way we think we want to add another AFF to the group I think it might be allowed but we just don't want the group to get too large or to be any problem for any of us to handle...remember...no stress.  Just thoughts here.  We will discuss more after the retreat.

1/2 done with Denise's book

Hi AFFs!!!  Well, I am pretty excited...half done with Denise's book...that is one page is complete and one page to go.  This book is beautiful...you have all done a beautiful job.  For some reason, when I started thinking about this book and theme, I knew exactly what I wanted to do!  Surprising for me!  Usually I stew and stew over things.

Anyhoo, Denise, I don't think I am going to post any pictures for you since we will be having our big reveal soon...keep it a surprise!

Looking forward to our reveal date...this project has been such a pleasure...very creative and no pressure (although I do admit that I gave myself a lot of pressure on Jody's book because I just wouldn't allow myself to get past what technique to use!  Maybe that is called creative block???).  Anyway, just wanted to update that I am working away and will certainly be finished in time for the reveal. 

Jody...are you thinking of what our next project will be in the altered book style you had talked about?

Kathi's book

Kathi's book arrived today, awesome! These books are sooooooo cool, more beautiful than any seen in the altered, quilting arts magazines. I took a quick peek of the pages in Kathi's book, I'll be looking at them closely over the next few days.

I'll be sending Nicki's book off to Kathi soon so she has time to finish before COF NC.

Jody's book

Hello AFFs! Jody's book is so fabulous...the work Kathi and Nicki have done is lovely and I was sooooo intimidated! I just had to leave the book on my work table for a very long time until I got up my nerve. I think the part I was most intimidated about was...what new technique to use! I just couldn't get past it. Finally, after many months, I have finished my pages for this very creative book. Once I finally got into it I ended up just doing what felt right and didn't worry about the technique. The finished product feels very like me but I, sadly, did not use any new techniques in the making of my pages. I did learn to use lutradur though, thanks to Jody.

This is my front cover~I love dots, stripes and lace. Does this dot fabric look familiar, Kathi?

The back of my page is actually made from a pieced vest I made back in 2001. I had no idea how to free-motion machine quilt then but I tried it anyway! I guess I was doing CQ back then and didn't know what it was! Jody, your book is very creative...you will love it.

I am really looking forward to our reveal at the retreat!

Hello my AFF friends!

Hello AFFs!!! Just dropping in to say hello. I know it has been a busy few months for all of us.

Just to recap where we are on our art journals:

I have in my possession Jody's journal and Denise's journal. I am almost finished with Jody's and will soon be mailing it to Denise. I will then work on Denise's and bring it to the retreat in April.

Where are the remaining journals?

It certainly will be a fun unveiling when we get together at the retreat! Fun, fun!

This has been a lovely journey in creativity and I have enjoyed playing with all of you. Should anyone decide on another AFF project, just jump on in and let us all know about it!
